If you are recovering from a heart attack, heart or lung disease, or recent surgery, the road ahead can look challenging. You may feel anxious about your health and be concerned about how you're going to manage life and get back to doing the things you love.
The Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is designed to get you moving in the right direction. We'll help you understand your medical problem and what you need to do to get better. Through supervised exercise, education and counseling, you'll learn how to cope with your condition, lower your risk of future problems and return to an active, productive life.
The following programs are designed to help patients take charge of their health:
Cardiac rehabilitation - A program for people who have had a heart attack, angina, bypass surgery and valve replacement or repair. It focuses on recovery and restoration of physical function and psychosocial well-being.
Pulmonary rehabilitation - A program that helps patients who have chronic but stable lung disease recognize and control symptoms and manage conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, emphysema or COPD.
Vascular rehabilitation - A program that helps patients who have peripheral arterial disease manage their symptoms so that they can walk with less leg and foot pain.
Fast Track - A self-pay program open to patients and spouses at high risk for cardiovascular or pulmonary disease.
Lifetime health maintenance - A health maintenance program ideal for patients who have completed rehabilitation and are ready to exercise more independently. Throughout the program, the team will provide guidance and encouragement and monitor progress on a regular basis.
